About this speaker
Julie's experience in the meetings and conventions industry began more than twenty-five years ago with an internship with the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau in Charleston, South Carolina.
Following the completion of her internship, she worked with the Convention & Visitors Bureau in various roles. After working for the Bureau for several years, she returned to Pennsylvania to start raising her family.
Julie served as the Director of Business Development for over 10 years with a national law firm, developing and executing a highly successful conference series and executive training program.
In 2010, Julie seized the opportunity to become an independent meeting professional. She now enjoys working with a diverse client base - including Fortune 500 corporations, pharmaceutical companies, and state associations.
She has planned and managed national, state and regional conferences; advisory board meetings; speaker training programs; and sales training events throughout the United States and Europe.
Her meeting planning skills range from RFP development and site selection process, cost-saving contract negotiations, full meeting planning and management, and on-site logistics support.
She is a member of the Middle Pennsylvania Meeting Professionals International (MPMPI) chapter, serving in numerous roles including Chapter President.
Additionally, Julie served on the board of the Pennsylvania Association of Travel and Tourism (PATT) and chaired the Professional Development Committee for PATT.
Julie is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, majoring in Recreation & Parks, with an emphasis in Commercial Recreation and Tourism Management.
Julie dedicates much of her free time to The Peyton Walker Foundation, a foundation established in 2014 in honor of Julie's daughter, Peyton, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 19 due to sudden cardiac arrest.
